How it works:The year is divided into 12-week sessions. For each of the sessions we will be focusing intently on one of three areas: sight-reading and rhythm, written theory, or listening. Assignments will be given that pertain directly to whatever area we are focusing on. There are also extra activities that can be completed to develop these areas further.
You can earn points each week for assignments and extra activities that you complete. These are listed on the weekly assignment pages. Points will be totaled at your lesson each week and a running total will be kept on your placard on the studio wall.
In addition to the regular weekly points, you can also earn bonus points as follows:
Completing a theory workbook=25 points
Completing a sight-reading and rhythm book=25 points
Learning all Major scales=25 points
Learning all Major arpeggios=25 points
Learning all Major chords=25 points
Learning all Minor scales=25 points
Learning all Minor arpeggios=25 points
Learning all Minor chords=25 points
Performing a duet with another person=25 points
There will be additional opportunities for points announced during the year.
You will be assigned to one of 3 teams (Red, White or Blue) and a running total for each team will also be kept on a placard on the studio wall. During each 12-week session there will be an Olympic Event. You will be eligible to compete in individual and team events to earn extra points. Team scores will be totaled at the conclusion of each Olympic Event and all members of the winning team will be awarded a prize!
